I had no idea beer drinking was so cultural. My friends and I all had the opposite reaction. We thought there must be something wrong with all these people that they couldn't drink a little glass of beer. Between two people! Good lord! No wonder American beer is so terrible. (sorry). I totally would have salted it to get rid of the carbination though, wonder if anyone thought of that. Why would it matter what the law was in her home state?

I am really enjoying the tasks this time around, but I feel sorry for anyone who would have had to bungee with me. Nice to meet you, sorry I peed on you.

How long was that sauerkraut song anyway? It was hard to tell at the Oscar party.

I hope they have an open, airy pitstop, after all that beer and cabbage.

That beer boot task is one that I wouldn't have done because I don't drink. I don't drink because my biological father (not my real father who raised me and was a non-drinker) was an alcoholic. There should have been an alternative beverage. What about the people who have religious or personal objections to drinking? What if someone was a recovering alcoholic or addict? That should have been a detour task that the teams could choose not to do. Having to take a penalty over something like that would have been unfair. I thought that it was very insensitive on the show's part.

If the cast was just random folks off the street, I agree that a drinking task could be insensitive, but these aren't just random folks off the street - ARP has chosen and vetted them - and if none of them have any real reason why they couldn't do it, or if all of the teams could be able to do it, then I have no issue with it.

I was actually bummed it wasn't an elimination week - not that I heart the beauty queen and such as, but I find Jeff and Jordon quite annoying. As someone who doesn't really care about Big Brother, I don't have any investment with them from that, and I haven't seen anything from them that would make me want them to win.

I'm guessing there's a contract or agreement that teams sign beforehand that lists some things that they may be subjected to during the course of the race - such as swimming, bungee jumping, consuming alcohol, etc.

I said the same thing to my husband. I think that is why it was a non-elimination round. I loved how some of the men were thrilled to get the beer to drink!!

I was ALL ABOUT the sauerkraut and beer tasks. I was watching with mr. wtf, and I just kept telling him how competely superfluous he would have been this leg if we were on the Race!! (Despite his eye-rolling, I'm pretty sure he knew it was true.)

Never watched BB with J+J, but I'm finding them charming. Was glad for the (incredibly easy to see coming) non-elim. Desperately want Miss And Such As and her mouth-breathing boyfriend to go soon, though.

I have no attachement to BB - in fact I cant believe I watch it, but there IS nothing on in the summer! But, I loved J&J on BB and about a month ago actually found myself thinking about them and being sort of upset that we would never know if they had a relationship after the show... I know, Im a geek! But a Dead Head sort of geek!

Have to wonder about that beer since several of the racers commented how weird it tasted. Are they used to only Budweiser? We do have a lot of imports now - albeit weaker ones. I will never forget arriving in Amsterdam, almost crying at the size of my room - until I hit one of the few coffee shops in town that also sold liquor. 1 beer and 1 "tolerated substance" later - I was so smashed I could barely make it back to the hotel - and it wasnt the tolerated substance!

There are parts of Oklahoma that are dry, but I don't think the part the McCoys are from is dry. What Oklahoma does have is what is commonly called pee-beer ... 3.2 beer. (You have to drink about 4 to get a buzz and by then all you really want to do is pee.)

I suspect there was a non-alcoholic beer available on request.

I always thought the Beatles' Hamburg joint was the Cavern Club...

Monty Python has a sketch in which they say American Beer is like "having sex in a canoe...it's f---ing close to water."

I'm pretty sure the Cavern was in Liverpool.

Ah. That makes sense.

BTW--does that Beatles tribute band on the show only know one song?
