That would shock me if it was true. That could have been my angle if I could find a partner (yes, I am an Eagle Scout). Somehow Blake screams Eagle Scout to me. I got to think there was one more and it just never got mentioned.
Ron & Kelly - Team DRAMA!!!
At first I had them middle of the pack. But then I remembered military training. and the fact that much as I hated 'Season of the beauty queens' 5, two of those ladies ended up in the final 3. So I moved them up. But if they can only do six roadblocks each? I put them fourth.
They actually seem quite nice and normal in their interview. I hope we don't hear too much POW talk though.

I don't mind a little POW talk -- if it's comparing or applying his POW experience to his Race experience. As in not knowing what the next moment will bring, the level of uncertainty, etc. But if it's just a play for sympathy? Nah, not a chance.

Just keep in mind that except for season one's Dave, pilots have done really well on TAR. In fact, two of them have won in different seasons.

Given this talk on the "Former" relationship, I'm actually hoping that Ron proposes (following Philimination) and she says "No." Better yet, she has no smile, no expression on her face, and pretty much gives him the cold shoulder and walks away.

Phil: Who said this was negotiable? (*Leaves the Pitstop, leaving Ron alone at the pitstop*)

From today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution, an item in its "Buzz" column:
Is Ron the first Eagle Scout to make it onto TAR? I can't recall any other Racer having mentioned that experience in their background.
Former POW on 'Race'
Kay Young, the mother of Lithia Springs' Ron Young Jr., a former Iraqi War POW, wasn't surprised when she heard he had signed on to be part of CBS' adventure reality show "The Amazing Race."
"He thought it would be a fun adventure," she said. "And if he wins, he will donate his share of the money to help veterans from Iraq."
Young explains this charitable element on the debut show, which airs at 9 tonight in a two-hour special on CBS (and which Buzz got to preview).
Naturally, Kay Young thinks her son will do well on the show. "Ron is very stubborn," she said. "He's an Eagle Scout and of course has a lot of that military training."
Young is joined by his girlfriend, Kelly McCorkle, the 2002 Miss South Carolina pageant winner. The pair are adorable during the opening episode, and Young is seen with a big grin on his face almost all the time on camera.
His mom isn't surprised. "When he first got in the military, he got in trouble for smiling too much at boot camp," she said, chuckling.

Wow - are these two dull. They've got the personality of potatoes, and you can tell that while Mr. All-American maybe has traveled, it hasn't been independently. They have the nerve to bump off my bluecollar Portuguese babies? Feh.

Blech. I was so hoping these two would bite it tonight. She majorly bugs and I might like him if he could complete a sentence without some reference to Iraq or being a POW.
