I think Bill was bugging him a little bit. They're clearly secure enough with each other to tease each other, and Joe was rather going on about how wonderful something or another was.
I thought it was the Tom Scavo more than the Caesar . . .
It was the leadup to this that was hilarious.
Ian: "Opinions are like..."
Phil: "Oh man. That reminds me of the Guidos."
Joe & Bill - Life Partners Toasting to Evil
Guidos, Goerge Cooney and Julius called, they want their haircut back. Stop with all emotion and get back to being evil, show M&D hows it done!

It feels so strange to be rooting for the Guidos this time around. Their brand of eeeeeeeevil just seems charming this time. I just picture Bill twirling his moustache, saying: "So, they think both of us have to drive the machine, do they? We'll see about that! Mwahahahaha!"
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil!

Joe seemed to be getting kind of irritated by the petting, as if Bill was bugging him. Maybe not, but it looked that way to me.

It was also something of a shout-out to a similar event in Episode 5 of TAR1 when the Guidos were driving through the desert in Tunisia.
Bill kept telling Joe not to hurt the car, Joe kept calling him a nervous nelly, and Bill did the exact same head-rubbing we saw last week.
I must comment that Bill was very impressive at the Roadblock. It's actually the first time I can distinctly remember him having to solve a puzzle on TAR, and he acquitted himself well.
And I do think the frustration about the front end loader was the very first time we've seen Team Guido raise their voice at each other in anger. Let us hope there are more surprises in store.

I loved it when they set off on this leg, and Joe (I think) said something like, "Here we go again! Isn't this fun?" You two aren't evil at all! (until next week, at least, and my money is on you being in the right in that dispute)

From the previews and the title of this week's episode, all I could hear in my head were Joe and Bill saying, "You need to watch your jokes, GUY" in the Saddam Hussein voice from South Park. I'm simple that way.

I just watched Teri and Ian's mat chat (working my way through them) and they mentioned that Joe and Bill mooned Phil! Now that's a set of pictures I'd love to see...the moons and Phil's expression. Heee!

We know you guys are trying to chnage your image from Tunsia-gate and be all sweet and lovable. But we love your Evil! After the way Eric has been treating you its time to break out the serious evil. Its ok, its justified and we'll love you so much more for It, so please bring the evil! *clinking glasses for inspiration!*

Awwwww *sniff*
Their final words were so sweet. See, this is what drives me crazy. Here are two men who are still happy and in love after 20 years and have a great relationship...better than most heterosexual relationships...yet, for some reason, a large majority of idiots think they shouldn't be allowed to be married. I just don't get how a love like that can be a bad thing.
And I bet a lot of these idiots are the same hypocrites who would watch the stuff about Auschwitz and say: "How awful! How can people do that to other people?"
