Day 1 (August 12, 2002): Leg 1 starts early morning in the Florida Everglades. Teams fly from Miami to Mexico City, arriving midday. Find Angel of Independence, then Pablo, then check in at Mexi-Mini Charters at Hotel de Cortes.

Day 2 (8/13): Morning buses to Tequesquitengo Airfield (or street-typist FF, Ken/Gerard). Wings/Wheels Detour. Afternoon arrivals at Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas pit stop [Gina/Sylvia eliminated].

Day 3 (8/14): Leg 2 begins at night. Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan, or Voladores FF (Derek/Drew). 24-hour bus ride for all to Cancun.

Day 4 (8/15): Bus arrivals. Manpower/Horsepower Detour. Ferry to Cozumel, swim-with-dolphins Roadblock at Chankanaab Park. Drive to Diamante K Bungalows (Tulum) pit stop through afternoon and evening [Tramel/Talicia eliminated].

Day 5 (8/16): Extended pit stop at Tulum.

Day 6 (8/17): Leg 3 begins with early departures driving to Cancun Airport, flights to Mexico City and thence by air to London/Heathrow (stopovers variously in Miami, Paris, Madrid).

Day 7 (8/18): First arrivals in London. Train to Cambridge, arrival at Scudamore's for Punt/Bike Detour. Charter buses leave late in the day for Aberdeen.

Day 8 (8/19): Arrivals in Aberdeen, concurrent with Dennis/Andrew arriving in London & traveling to Cambridge for Duxford Imperial War Museum FF. Taxis from Aberdeen to Stonehaven for Highland Games Roadblock. By foot to Dunnlottar Castle pit stop [Dennis/Andrew eliminated]. Leg 4 begins with late-night departures on foot.

Day 9 (8/20): Walking to Stonehaven Harbour for the bottle with the message. Flights from Aberdeen to Heathrow, thence (some via Cologne) to Porto, Portugal. At Calem Port Lodge, Old School / New School (Chez Lapin, Retiro dos Carvalhos, Majestic Café) Detour, then train to Lisbon (São Bento to Santa Apolonia stations).

Day 10 (8/21): Shortly after midnight, soccer Roadblock at Gate F, Estadio do Restelo. Walking (or not) to Torre de Belem pit stop [Heather/Eve eliminated]. Leg 5 begins midafternoon, traveling by train or taxi to the westernmost point in continental Europe (Cabo da Roca). Slopes/Ropes Detour; after which, cars are provided for travel to the marine port in Algeciras, Spain. During the night, the Diesel debacle, dealt with in various ways.

Day 11 (8/22): Starting at 7 am, hourly ferries from Algeciras to Tangier, Morocco. Directions to travel agency, thence by a series of charter buses to Fez. Tannery Roadblock. Driving to Borj Nord pit stop [Michael/Kathy eliminated].

Day 12 (8/23): Leg 6 begins with predawn driving to Hussan II Mosque in Casablanca. Trains to Marrakech. Teri/Ian do carpet FF, others to Palmerie for Now You See It / Now You Don't Detour. Glacier Café opens 4:45 pm for escargot-selling Roadblock, then to Riad Catalina roof pit stop [Aaron/Arianne eliminated].

Day 13 (8/24): Extended pit stop in Marrakech.

Day 14 (8/25): Leg 7 begins predawn with taxi travel to Marrakech airport, flights to Munich via various routes (Zurich, Casablanca airport, Frankfurt, Paris). Afternoon-to-evening arrivals, to get clue from Kasperle near Friedensengel. Trains to Innsbruck, route marker at Annasaule, all wait at Olympic Village for operating hours (except Damon/Andre, waiting for flight in Paris, and Flo/Zach, waiting for FF to open).

Day 15 (8/26): Flo/Zach FF via Eisbach surfer in Munich, others do Sled/Skate Detour, then taxis to Nordkette/Seegrube Roadblock. Then driving to Füssen below Neuschwanstein (Andre/Damon eliminated]. Leg 8 begins at night with driving to nearby Augustinerhof Farm and searching in a haystack for the next clue.

Day 16 (8/27): Driving to Friedrichshafen, where they take the ferry at 5:41 to Romanshorn, Switzerland. From there, train to Schauffhausen and taxis to Rheinfall. Boats to and from the island route marker. Train to Zurich, then on foot to the guard in the Lindenhof for the Count the Money / Run the Numbers Detour. Train to Grindelwald, then walk to the field for the William Tell Roadblock. Everyone hikes (or taxis) to the Chalet Arnika pit stop [non-elimination].

Day 17 (8/28): Extended pit stop in Grindelwald.

Day 18 (8/29): Leg 9 directs teams to Gletscherschlucht for keys to vehicles; driving to car-train at Kandersteg (cheese FF for John Vito/Jill). To Red Bridge in Valley for Adventure Park, for Extreme Swiss/Very Swiss Detour (bungee/goats). Drive to Chateau de Chillon for bicycle-assembling Roadblock. Then ride bikes to Basset Marina in Montreux, paddleboats to Steamship Savoie pit stop [non-elimination].

Day 19 (8/30): Leg 10 begins in Lucerne (Savoie has moved): teams to Jet d'Eau in Geneva, flag clue to Malaysia. Morning flights to Kuala Lumpur (some via Paris).

Day 20 (8/31): Flights land in Kuala Lumpur. Photo-taking by Petronas Towers, developing at Ampang Park shopping center for directions to travel by train from Central Station to Singapore. Nighttime arrivals in Singapore, hotels.

Day 21 (9/1): National Orchid Garden, Margaret Thatcher has directions for Dry/Wet Detour (TV star's apartment or manatees at zoo). Then driving to Fountain of Wealth (Roadblock though not televised as such), thence to Mount Faber pit stop [John Vito/Jill eliminated].

Day 22 (9/2): Extended pit stop in Singapore. Leg 11 starts that night, attempting to fly to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam (Ken/Gerard get to Kuala Lumpur that night).

Day 23 (9/3): Flights via Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Min City, taxis to statue of Bac Ho in Rex Square. Then taxis proceed to floating market in Cai Be (Mekong Delta) for Easy Buy/Hard Sell Detour. Then back to Ho Chi Minh City to 2A Ton Duc Thang, District 1. Cyclo/ferry Roadblock to Café Thu Thiem pit stop [Derek/Drew eliminated].

Day 24 (9/4): Leg 12: Early departures, booking train to Hue. 24-hour train ride begins.

Day 25 (9/5): Taxis to Imperial Palace, then to Nam O Da Nang for Basket Boats/Bikes Detour. To boat quay in Hoi An (fishing platform Roadblock), then to China Beach pit stop [non-elimination].

Day 26 (9/6): Leg 13: Early departures to route marker at Guang Minh Temple in Da Nang, which directs them to arrange flights to Honolulu at a local travel agency before traveling via train to Hanoi.

Day 27 (9/6 again, because of International Date Line): Hanoi-Tokyo flight, followed by Tokyo-Honolulu.

Day 28 (9/7): Honolulu arrivals, by car on Oahu to the Kahuna. Flights to Kauai, then driving to Wailua Falls (Quick Drop/Slow Walk) Detour. Driving back to airport for flights via Honolulu to Seattle.

Day 29 (9/8): Arrival in Seattle, taxis to Kerry Park. Then on foot to the International Fountain at Seattle Center. Taxis to Lincoln Park for the totem Roadblock. Then taxis to Gasworks Park for the finish line: Ken & Gerard place 3rd, Teri & Ian 2nd, Flo & Zach win.
